Twitter World Cup Hashtags

| June 12th, 2010 | Sports | No Comments »

In addition to creating an awesome World Cup Twitter page, Twitter has created hashflags, which is what they are calling the hashtags that display little flag icons of the countries in the World Cup.  The general hashtag for the World Cup is #WorldCup, which produces a little soccer ball icon.

I can’t seem to find a definitive resource for these Twitter World Cup hashflags, so I decided to list them here for my own reference.  Maybe others will find it useful, as well!

One of My All-Time Favorite Movie Quotes

| December 4th, 2008 | Movies | No Comments »

From Fight Club:

“You’re not your job. You’re not how much money you have in the bank. You’re not the car you drive. You’re not the contents of your wallet. You’re not your fucking khakis. You’re the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.”

Sprite’s “Liquid Freedom” Commercial

| June 24th, 2008 | TV | 6 Comments »

I LOVE this commercial:

YouTube Preview Image

Apparently, the ad launched in March of 2005… From what I’ve read, I’m guessing that it launched in Germany, because I’ve just started seeing the commercial over the past few weeks.

There seems to be a lot of confusion over the music for the ad. I was able to find the most comprehensive information on TheInspirationRoom.com:

The music for the Sprite Liquid Freedom ad was created exclusively by staff at sound and music company Human Worldwide, New York. The music was not written or played by New Zealand band, Evermore, despite the attribution of a Limewire track to them. I stated earlier here that the music was performed by an unknown Australian band. People jumped to conclusions and assumed it was Evermore, even though Evermore are from New Zealand and not Australia.

Benjamin Pacheco wrote and recorded the music for the first track. See the Boards article from April 1, 2006 and credits for the Australian version. Pacheco told Boards that he wrote and recorded the music at home. For more of Pacheco’s work see his band site Mus-OK and Mus-OK MySpace site. The track is now hosted at the Union Devo MySpace site, named Counting Backwards, and can be downloaded there as an mp3 audio file.

The ‘Falling Away’ track was written by Lindsay Jehan, Hugh Wilson, Andy Bloch, and Morgan Visconti at Human Worldwide. The song was recorded at Human Worldwide’s studio by Hugh Wilson (vocals) and Lindsay Jehan (instruments), Australians living in New York at the time. Wilson is performing the full song at his live shows. Hugh Wilson has the track available to play on his MySpace site.

“Falling Away” Lyrics

I’m falling away
I’m falling away with you

We can’t always say
In the cool light of day what’s true

Time may heal your wounds
I’ll see you through

I thought we’d create
hearts in a sea of blue
We’d give and not take
I said I believed in you

But I’m falling away
I’m falling away with you
Time may heal your wounds
I’m seeing you through
Your eyes may fade from view
I’m seeing you through..

I’m torn at the seams
It pains me to breathe
You think you’re not needed
But I feel your pain
It’s alway the same
But let’s not feed it
Yet here in my soul
I want you to know
I’ll never leave

There’s nothing to say
No more charades for fools
I came here to stay
I’m falling away with you
I’m falling away
I’m falling away with you..

Time may heal your wounds
I’ll see you through
Your eyes may fade from view
I’ll see you through
Time may heal your wounds
I’ll see you through

I’m falling away
I’m falling away with you
I’m falling away

Enjoy,

Inaugural Week of Sock: Chi City 2008

| June 18th, 2008 | SocK | 6 Comments »

So, I’ve been in the Chi for a week, now… and it couldn’t have been a better week.

In my last post, I wrote about my unexpectedly fun first night. I spent most of the next day (Friday) recovering on the couch, while watching Euro 2008 among doing other things that didn’t require much movement.

SocK: Chi City

| June 13th, 2008 | SocK | 2 Comments »

What is SocK, you ask? Why it’s Summer of cK, of course! :D

I have to give props to my friend who originally came up with the “Summer of Jessica” when she recently had a long break from work.

Ever since I graduated from college in 2003 and moved out to the OC, I have been traveling back to the Chicagoland area every summer to catch up and party with my friends. Year after year, my stay in the Chi seems to get longer and longer. The first year, my stay was 10 days… Last year, I visited twice for a total of nine weeks!

It’s Been Awhile…

The title of this post currently holds more than one meaning for me… but, I’m just going to go into one, for now…

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted on here… Over half a year, in fact!

Since I haven’t been posting, I integrated Twitter Tools, which takes my all of my updates on Twitter and creates a blog post out of them each day. They are those Tidbits From Twitterland posts that you may have seen.

High School Hero: Claire Markwardt

| November 17th, 2007 | Sports | No Comments »

This has to be one of the most inspiring stories of courage and determination that I have ever read:

High school runner breaks leg in meet, crawls to finish anyway

Ask Markwardt to tell you her memories from the meet, and the first thing she mentions is how perfect the entire day was supposed to be. She was to run the biggest race of her life in the morning. As soon as it finished, she was to drive with her dad from Columbus to Warren, where she would be the maid of honor in her big sister Anna’s wedding that night.

The Hills Of Los Angeles Are Burning

I’m sure you’ve all heard about the Southern California fires by now. I hope so, anyway… it’s only the biggest news in the country this week.

First of all, I want to thank those of you who have taken the time to call or message me to see if we are okay. We’re not in a fire-prone area, so we shouldn’t be in any danger. However, it’s good to know that our friends in the Midwest are thinking about us.

Zoobs’ Short But Sweet Visit

| October 24th, 2007 | Chillin' | 1 Comment »

So Zoobs, one of my best friends from college, came out from St. Louis to visit me in the OC for a little business trip. He was out here from Friday morning to Monday afternoon. It was a good time.

August & September 2007 Chicago Extravaganza

| October 12th, 2007 | Travels | 1 Comment »

So, I was home in the OC for a short two weeks after the July 2007 Chicago Extravaganza before I flew right back to Chicago for six more weeks of pure extravaganzing.

I’ve been back home in the OC for three weeks now and I finally feel like I’m settled in and back in the groove. It definitely took awhile to adjust back to “normal” life.
