NBA opening day tip-off! Merry Christmas!
Post-Game Update
With the Bulls down by 9 (82-73) with 3-and-a-half to go, it was looking like my Christmas wasn’t going to be so Merry. Fortunately, this turned out to be one hell of a game with an amazing finish by the one and only Derrick Rose!
Somehow, we ended up sitting in a small pocket of Bulls fans with whom I was desperately trying to outcheer the Lakers fans. We were so outnumbered it was impossible. That is until there was just 20 seconds left on the clock and the Bulls had cut the Lakers’ lead to 1 (87-86). The Lakers had the ball, but I felt something awesome was going to happen, so I began recording:
Did you hear how quiet the Staples Center got except for our little section? Sit down!
Here is the footage from the NBA (which is almost the opposite angle from where I shot my footage):
This is one of the best sporting events I have witnessed in person! A steal by Loul Deng leading to the game-winning basket by MVP Derrick Rose, and then a clutch block in the final second by Deng for the win on the lockout-delayed Opening Day of the 2011 NBA season, which fell on Christmas no less!
What a gift!
