Page: C8The sectional opens today with eighth-seeded Plainfield (11-8-3) playing host to No. 9 Romeoville at 2 p.m. and No. 10 Bolingbrook (5-13) visiting No. 7 Aurora East at 1 p.m. The Plainfield-Romeoville winner gets Waubonsie Valley Tuesday and the Bolingbrook-Aurora East winner advances to play Naperville Central Tuesday.
Earlier this week, Aurora East upset Waubonsie Valley 1-0.
“I didn’t see the game but it would be my guess that Waubonsie Valley rested some people for that game,” said Plainfield coach Steve Schermerhorn.
“We tied East Aurora 3-3 earlier this season.
I hope when we end up playing (Waubonsie Valley) they rest some people.”
Senior forward Chris Chung spearheads the Plainfield attack having scored 24 goals.
No other player on the team has reached double digits.
“He’s been our production, pretty much, when it comes to offense,” said Schermerhorn.
“Opponents have keyed on him all year but we do a nice job at the midfield of getting him the ball.
“We haven’t played Romeoville but from looking at the games we’ve had in common, I think if we play consistently like we have this season, we should be able to come away with a win.”
