I still don't think it should be considered a planet. It isn't gaseous like the Outer planets, it doesn't host life or have a chance in hell to do so; it isn't so close to the sun so that it's burning hot, it doesn't have rings around it or huge storms that last over 300 years... I don't think so. Do they do anything that our 8 planets do? No. There are plenty of things that are attracted to the Sun's gravitational pull, floating space-rocks included. Doesn't mean they're planets. And if you taught a child inaccurate information, wouldn't you want to correct yourself?
